I'm Dreaming of a White... Easter?!??!
Who knew that I would get to see inches of snow in April? Gotta love it when you can have a snowball fight on Easter!! Only in Texas!!After the sunrise service (that was held inside a gym and we were still freezing), Josh, Alyssa, Vicki, Brad and I went to eat breakfast and got to see an Easter bunny snowman right next to a pool. :)
Took some photos on the way home of bluebonnets freezing in the snow.
We had a fabulous Easter ... lots of family, food, egg hunting (eggs filled with CANDY, not hardboiled eggs, mind you!! I took a poll and apparently most families use hardboiled eggs, but clearly, candy-filled eggs are the way to go!! What kid wants to eat hardboiled eggs for Easter??!), chatting, taking photos of the kiddos, and hiding Easter eggs in the snow.
We had some really awesomely decorated eggs this year. Even some with "hair" (aka string leftover from a sweater that Mo Mo made for Em Em).
Another strange thing about our family...
We nominate eggs to be voted on each year. It is a big family affair. The eggs must make it through two hunts (not sure who made up that rule but we go with it). We then select five or so eggs and then take a vote on our favorite. The lineup for this year...
I voted for the basket egg (there is also a bunny painted on the opposite side)...it was the big winner of the year.
Oh how I love my crazy and fun family.
Our past years' winners are proudly displayed in my aunt Nelwyn's china cabinet all year round (except for when they are displayed on the piano at Easter) ... they even have fancy stands for them....
I know, we're cool. :P
After everyone went home we decided that the five of us would head to the movies to see Blades of Glory. Funny but probably not worth going to the movie theater to see. (I just like getting to watch "the return on Napoleon" because his character in the movie was a lot like Napoleon). Ate some yummy food at Casa Ole and headed home to recover from a crazy weekend!
How was your Easter? Hope you had a wonderful Easter and celebrated our Risen Lord!!!
BVOTD: So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me." Matthew 28:8-10 NIV

What is this talk of lameness???
Lacey, those episodes of House were not going to watch themselves!!!! :Þ
"Return on Napoleon" is that an investment term???
Um, I may have to agree with Lacey on this one, Vicki. You don't get many chances to play in the snow in Texas. You've got to take them when you get them. Besides, that's what VCR recorders are for. :-)
Loved the fancy Easter eggs and the contest to choose the year's best! I've never decorated an egg to look that nice, but am inspired to give it a try next year.
Oh yes, I had wondered what happened to all the Easter sunrise services this year. Thanks for letting me know how your church handled it.
Gerald, what is even worse is that *all* of the House episodes were on DVD...a simple push of the button would have paused the show for a nice snow intermission!!!
Some of the eggs that our family makes are crazy fun! This year they glued yarn on as hair and drew on faces! They also made an egg with crushed pieces of a dyed egg glued on to the sides!! Love the creativity!
Actually, our church doesn't have a sunrise service...not sure why??! They only offer the 8:30 and 11:00 services. We always go to our childhood church for sunrise service. There is just something about getting up early on Easter, getting out in God's creation (or in this year and last year's cases, the gym), and really imagining that morning so long ago!! You just can't get that in a regular service I don't think!!
And yes, Vicki, "Return on Napoleon" is an investment term!! :P
It was the best Easter ever!!! :)
