A Call for Accountability...

Warning: this post may be very shocking to you...read with caution!!!

I finally decided that we have lived too long in a messy, unorganized bedroom.

Last week I made a decision that we would fix the bed (that has been broken for over a year) and completely clean and organize our bedroom - papers, laundry, dust bunnies, and all - over Spring Break.

For those of you who have been in our bedroom in the last year or so...you know that it is just horrible. We can't find anything and we have more dust bunnies living with us then anyone should ever see in their lifetime.

For those of you who have not seen our bedroom...I am going to show you a peek into how terrible it really is...
I am sure there are many of you who are gasping for air right now...not believing that we have actually lived like this for so long (especially in a house where an organization-lover lives!!)...I have a hard time believing it myself. But, alas, now you know the ugly truth.
(Please notice the mattress and box spring resting on the floor while the storage containers that were underneath the bed lie beside the sofa and the headboard and footboard lean against the sofa and block the entire space between the sofa and the bed. Our room is so small to begin with...but add a headboard and footboard...and we end up with a very small walking space!)
I knew I needed some acountability to make sure that we would really get the job done so I will be posting some more pictures at the end of my Spring Break to show our progress (or lack thereof)...

Nothing like a little negative motivation to get the job done, right?!?!?!
We worked on it for hours last night and I already have some good news!!

Most of the dust bunnies are hanging out together in the vaccum cleaner!! YAY! :) AND!!! WE HAVE A REAL BED AGAIN!!! :)

I am no longer living on a matress and box spring on the floor! (And as an added bonus...my back will be saved from having to lean over the mini-bed to do the laundry! I can now actually reach my bedside table!)

Our dear friend Bryan from CBS hooked us up and welded our bed for us yesterday. He also taught Brad how to weld and helped him make his first piece of art...a cross! :)
So yay for good friends helping poor non-welding college students without a bed out! :) Bryan rocks!!
Stay tuned for an update to the messy bedroom saga...

Wow! I was all prepared to say, "That's not so bad, you should see our bedroom!", but that was indeed pretty messy. Ours isn't much better right now, but we have an excuse in that we are painting Bailey's room (princess colors!) and all her clothes and much of her stuff is in our room.

But, you got the bed frame repaired and Brad learned a new skill he can use to repair other things that break in the future. The dust bunnies are gone, AND it's only Tuesday. You've still got four days to complete your re-organization! I am completely confident that the pictures you post this weekend will be immaculate! :-)

(Your Bible verse of the day was the same one that Vicki talked about on Saturday.)

Yeah, I was not kidding when I told you it was a MESS!!

YAY for princess colors!! :) Will it have princesses on the walls??

I am pretty proud of our progress so far. Last night we didn't get anything done though so that is not so good. I will probably work on it more tonight! I need to do A LOT of laundry!!

(P.S. Gerald, when are you going to get a blog?!?!?! We are all patiently waiting!!)

Yes, it will have princesses on the walls, a giant crown, and other regal touches.

I'm glad somebody is making progress. This incessant rain has slowed our painting project to a crawl.

I've thought about doing a blog but am afraid it would leave me little time to visit everyone else's blogs. :-)

I do want to start either a blog or a journal, though, of thoughts and experiences while Bailey is growing up. You forget the cute little things they say and do so quickly that you really need to have some way of recording them.

I'd also like to have a journal/blog of my life as a Christian, sort of as a way of being accountable or of charting my progress since I don't have an accountability partner at the moment. So, there IS still hope that I might start one. :-)

Bailey's room sounds like it is fit for a princess!! :)

I think those are both really good ideas for a blog...maybe you can incorporate them into one...

P.S. I think you will still have time to read everyone's blogs ;)

Yikes girl! You are right, I had no idea :) And don't feel bad, it happens sometimes and after it goes for awhile and gets worse, it is just so hard to face it. Amazing cause your scrappy stuff is so well organized!

Well, good for you for taking it in hand--and I can't wait to see the after pictures--I'm sure it'll look great!
