Luke's First Sick Day

Woke up this morning around 4 am to the sound of Luke coughing up a storm.

He normally coughs & sneezes occasionally so it wasn't a big deal at first but when I realized he was coughing a lot and he sounded congested I started to get a little concerned.

I called the doctor's office and they told me he is too young for medicine and to buy him Little Noses and suction his nose afterwards. They also said to get a humidifier and have him sleep elevated...so he is sleeping in his car seat now. We also thought he might have a little case of diarrhea and they said to buy Gerber Liquilytes to replace the electrolytes that he lost. We couldn't find that brand so Brad bought a generic one from the grocery store. We were also concerned when his congestion changed from clear to greenish/yellow.

Luke was a little more fussy than usual on Friday so I thought maybe he might not be feeling well but I wasn't sure. For a sick boy, he surely is happy though. He even smiled through a couple of diaper changes today (that is no small thing...he hates diaper changes usually!).

I know this is the first of many sick days and many colds but it surely does scare a new momma when her boy has congestion problems. So, please pray for him if you could. I would really like to nip this thing in the bud before we have to take him to the doctor. You can tell that he just doesn't feel very good.

Guess What I Got in the Mail Today...

:) That's right. 10 pounds of pictures. Over 555 4x6 photos from Snapfish. I also got some wallets, 5x7s, and 8x10s.

Pregnancy photos and some of the first two months of Luke's life. So excited to get my hands on these babies!! I am date-stamping all of them so that I won't have to question when the pictures are from when we look at them 20 years from now.

I bought doubles and my plan is to put all of the photos in regular photo albums and then only scrap the photos that I really love and the ones that have stories that I really want to tell.

I definitely need to get started on Luke's baby album soon. I haven't done much of anything on it yet except for take photos and make notes. I am currently working on a mini album of Luke's arrival. I totally miss scrapping!! Once I finish that I plan to move on to his baby album.

So here is a friendly reminder to actually print all of those photos you have on your memory sticks and saved onto your computer...it is so nice seeing them in real life. Also reassuring to know that you have hard copies of them...just in case!

8 Weeks Old

Luke is a growing boy for sure! He is already 10 pounds and 6 ounces and I am not quite sure how long he is but he has grown inches since he was born. He just seems so very long to me for such a little guy. A lot of his 0-3 month clothes are getting too short! He is changing so much!

We can tell he is going to be such a wonderful little man...he has such a good disposition. He is advanced for his age, too. :) His new favorite thing is mimicking us when we stick out our tongues at him. (I know, that's a really good thing to teach him, lol!). I might try to share a video of it...it is too cute! He can hold up his head for minutes...I was reading about what he is supposed to be doing developmentally and it said that next month he is supposed to be able to hold up his head for a few seconds. Ha :) I read online that he isn't supposed to be sleeping "through the night" till he is 4 months old. He has been sleeping for 6 or 7 hours straight a night fairly consistently for the last few weeks. (= a happy momma!).

He is just the light of our lives. He brightens up our days and makes us feel all warm and giddy inside :) I know I have said it before...but I just love this stay-at-home-mom gig! It is the best! :) Sure, some days he is a little more fussy than others or I get frustrated because it feels like I can't get anything done because I have to feed him every two seconds (he really loves to eat) but it beats a 9-to-5 job (or a 9:30-to-6 job ;) anyday. :)

Can't believe that he is already 8 weeks old! Time is flying (what's new?!). Hope you enjoy the video...I've never posted one before so I hope I did it right :) Let me know if it doesn't work!

Big, Bright Smile :)

Luke is all smiles these days. He smiled for the first time a couple of weeks ago. He especially loves having his cheeks played with.

There is nothing like seeing his little face light up with a big grin when he is happy!! :) Definitely one of the pluses of having an almost two month old...he smiles just because he wants to! (Though I think we all enjoyed his little gassy smiles...) Just thought I would share this photo...it is one of my favorites right now! :)

BVLTD: "My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God." Proverbs 2:1-5

Almost 7 Weeks

(Per Luke's request, I'm back. Sorry about being MIA...we've been settling into life...don't worry though, I have been taking lots of pictures and making a lot of notes....I will make some back-dated posts so don't forget to check back...)
Our sweet boy is growing more and more each day (much to his momma's dismay...she just wants him to stay exactly how he is right now!) and becoming much more alert and active. Just last week he gave us his first real smile. :) We are enjoying watching him grin and smile at us each day. It's so totally adorable!
These pics were taken today...doesn't he look all grown up? He looks more and more like Brad each day (just as I requested in my prayers). He is such a sweet and good natured baby. For the most part, he only cries when he is hungry, has a wet or dirty diaper or has some gas issues. I took him to my doctor's visit yesterday and he slept the entire time. (I only have 13 more pounds left to lose out of the 40 that I gained!!! YAY!!!) He has been a lot more consistent on sleep lately...he slept 6 hours amost three nights in a row (last night was only 3 but we are hoping tonight will be 6 again).
Love this sweet boy so much and I am so loving being a stay at home mom!! :) God is so good to us and we are really blessed!!!

Bye Bye, Jeep...

Hello, Ram.

Brad decided that his Jeep was a little too small for him with all of his tools and boxes for jobs so he listed it on Craigslist. A couple hours later he got a call from a man that was going to fly in from Houston to get the Jeep. Believe it or not, that deal went smoothly and we are no longer the owners of that pretty little Jeep.

Brad started searching the Internet for a new vehicle. Brad is always like a kid in a candy store when he hunts for vehicles. He found this Dodge Ram truck at a dealership in Houston and he put a deposit on it almost right away. (He only hesitated because it is a standard and I can't drive a standard). It is a 2007 but it only had 18 miles on it when he went to pick it up. He loves it and is really happy he found it. The beauty of it is that he can keep all of his job stuff in the bed of the truck so that Luke is all alone in the backseat.

BVOTD: "No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each tree is recognized by its own fruit. People do not pick figs from thornbushes, or grapes from briers. The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks." Luke 6:43-45

Snug as a Bug in a Rug

Luke certainly loves to be all wrapped up in his baby wrap (thank you Curlees and Charrierres!)! At first I couldn't figure out how to use it because I wasn't doing it tight enough but now it is really easy to use.

It is a life saver for me because I am able to have my hands free to get housework and CBS stuff done while he is all happy and cuddly. We also walk to the mailbox in it! :) He totally feels like he is back in momma's tummy.

I am glad to have Luke out in the "real world" but I really miss having my little buddy in there!! I loved the random little kicks during the day. :) This is as close as I get to that now...I suppose it will have to do until Luke gets a little brother or a sister!
