Praise the Lord!!
Hung out at the hospital all day today with my family (thank the Lord that I work for my inlaws and they willingly let me off work today!). Dad went in for a colonoscopy this morning around 11:00. He was back in the room by 1:00 or so. We waited *all day* for the doctors to come and let us know the test results...finally my cousin stepped up and made the nurse find the doctor. About 7:30 pm the doctor finally came in to give us the results.
The doctor said that dad has diverticulitis and they were able to crimp the part that was bleeding. He gets to eat real food again!! (Yay for daddy!) He basically can eat whatever he wants to as long as it doesn't irriate him. And he gets to go home tomorrow! Praise the Lord!!!!!
He said he would drink to that and held up his water cup. :) We celebrated by getting daddy a vanilla Blue Bell ice cream cup from the freezer. So we are all very happy and I'm sure everyone will sleep well tonight!!
Thank you so much for all of your prayers - I know the Lord heard them because we could see Him working everywhere! The whole thing couldn't have gone better (unless, of course, maybe the doctor could have come to see us a few hours earlier ;)

I wish that the doctors had told dad that he DOES need to increase his fiber intake. A long-term diet low in fiber (not enough fruits and veggies, primarily) is what causes diverticulosis and diverticulitis to begin with.
If he doesn't change his diet, he isn't going to lower his risk of having more problems in the future. :o(
