Another Quick Hello from Peru
We have been really busy so I haven't been able to write much. It is hard to believe that we are almost done with our trip!!
We have done three VBSs so far. Have seen a lot of kids who live in terrible conditions but still have smiles on their faces. They are so incredibly cute! It is so hard to believe that we only have one more VBS left and Saturday and then we go home. We have had a good turn out at the VBSs and at the evening church services. I know that we are planting seeds here. I have a newfound appreciation for everything that Melanie does here!!!
The church in Canto Grande that we visited tonight really needs some prayers...they are having some major troubles with leadership and Satan is hardcore attacking them. The pastor had a past of beating his wife...then the whole family gave their lives to Jesus. He became the pastor and is now beating his wife again (she has a broken arm right now because of him). They have asked him not to come back to the chruch right now and, as you can imagine, it is very difficult to keep a church together in this kind of a situation. Please lift them up in prayer if you get a chance. Pray that he will come back to the Lord and repent or that he will step down and new leadership can arise.
Pray also that the Lord will continue to grow the churches that we have visited. The areas where the churches are located are in very poor districts and there are many people who are unchurched. These people so need the Lord!!!!
Love the grocery store here...it is so awesome!...It's called Wong. Oh, and a yummy ice cream shop! :) And the weather!! It's actually chilly here (sometimes cold)! :) I am really going to be wanting winter when I get back home!! Oh, and Mel's housekeeper here has been cooking us lunch for the last three days and it has been so YUMMY!! Brother John has been so impressed with me...he says that I am so picky he can't believe that I'm eating it (and clearing my plate)...he said on the Laredo mission trip I didn't eat much. Brad kindly explained to him that it was because this food was actually really good!! ;)
Celebrated our 4th anniversary today (it is so hard to believe it has been four years already! We are such old people!) by going out to breakfast with Bradley. We went to Starbucks where we got a vanilla capaccino - my first one in like three months! (I got a headache shortly thereafter...too much caffeine the last few days! So much for DP days on mission trips! There is no DP and I end up drinking way too much Coke because that is the only choice sometimes except for Inca Cola - Peruvian soda) And got some Dunkin doughnuts from our fave grocery store (okay, and the sugar probably didn't help my head either!). We also enjoyed the whole group singing the "Happy Anniversary" song to us (like three times, lol)...they bought us a card in spanish and everyone signed it (even the two translators that are traveling with us). The church that we went to tonight had a sign up on the wall that said "Feliz IV Aniversario" (because the church was celebrating their fourth anniversary) and everyone made us take a picture by it...kinda funny. Will probably become a scrapbook page one day.
I have some news...I am showing!! There is a baby belly appearing...and I am not the only one that thinks that...Paula, Mel, Riss, and MAM all agree. Wish I had gotten a picture before we left home. Looks like maternity clothes shopping will be on my list when I get home! God is so good, I have not really been sick this entire time!
Would write more but I am so tired!! Missing you guys. Keep praying for us.
(Sorry no pictures...the computer at the Mission House doesn't have a program to download pictures!!)
God is good all the time!!!!!

Lace, ease up on that caffeine addiction! I want a calm niece or nephew ... not one with Coke pumping through their veins. (If that's the case, it should at least be Dr. Pepper flowing through them.) :Þ
We had quite a few high maintenance kids in the nursery this morning. It's all yours now!
Very glad you're on your way back.
i already miss yall :( hope to see some pictures soon!
The trip went by so fast! I enjoyed your update! :)
I have to say I agree with Vicki on this one. Didn't your doctor warn you to keep the caffeine intake low??? Yikes! :oO
If you aren't careful, the new nickname for the baby is going to be Spaz!!!!
