Luke's First Doctor's Visit
The doctor said that he is a little jaundice but not enough to worry about. Since Luke hasn't pooped since day #2 he said that might take care of it. Luke weighed 7 lbs 14 ozs (up from 7 lbs 8 ozs when we left the hospital), was 20" long (still), and his head grew 1/2" to 13". The doctor said he is well on his way to gaining back his birthweight by his two week checkup (always reassuring to a breastfeeding mom!).
He says that Luke has a couple of birthmarks on the back of his head (nicely covered up by hair) that they call "stork bites" and he thinks that the little red mark on his left cheek may also be a birthmark. All in all, he says that Luke is "off to a good start". :)
When we asked the doctor what he thought about us giving him a pacifier he said, "Did it get him to stop crying?" We said "Yes" and he said, "Then it's a good thing." So I guess we are okay parents, lol. :)
While I was at a doctor's office, I took advantage of the fact that they have a working scale and asked if I could weigh myself (I was curious since they didn't weigh me at the hospital). I am down to 155 (from 170 at my last doctor's appointment) so that is nice. I just wish I could lose the extra fluid in my hands (I still have carpal tunnel, yuck!) and in my face! My toes and calves are back to normal! Wow, I still can't believe I just had a baby!!!!!
We go back to the doctor on Monday for his two week appointment (a little early since he will be two weeks on Thursday but that was the only appointment they had available).
After the doctor's appointment we headed over to Babies R Us to pick up a bunch of stuff for Luke. We dropped an insane amount of money but since we had a 10% coupon for anything on our registry, we saved quite a bit too :) I am now the proud owner of a fancy breast pump and a monitor that we can actually see Luke on! :) YAY! I love living in the 21st century! :) (We were bad people to take Luke out but I stood between him and people so that no one could breathe on him!)

The doctor is man-handling little Luke!!!!! Poor little guy! :o(
It was more like 4:30 in the morning, and he had been screaming in my ear off and on (and more on than off, I might add!) for over an hour! The kid needed a Soothie, okay?!
from a glance the doctor looks kinda like my grandpa... minus the mustache.
