The Scrapbook Expo & Other Fun Things...

Had a lovely day on Saturday…went to the Scrapbook Expo in Austin with the sisters. Quite the good time. We met at Starbucks and had some coffee and then headed to the Expo center. We got to meet the one and only Karen Burniston…she has the funniest blog ever…you should go read it (especially "Blogworthy 1970's" from April 10, 2006 & "Scandinavian Festivus for the Best of Us!" from February 20, 2006...so stinkin' hillarious! And her younger sister Julie...that is totally me when I was a youngin'!)...

SO...I got to meet the very cool Karen Burniston and Amanda, Vick, and I even got a picture with her! :)

When I asked her if she would be in a picture she dropped everything (she was working a very busy booth with lots of ladies in line, BTW) and asked us where we wanted to take the picture. While we were walking over to the black curtain backdrop she explained to Kara, the other lady working the booth, that she is "very big in Europe"...I just love her humor. She cracks me up. After we took the photo we went back to the booth and she rang up all my items (there was a bunch of items because it was the dollar scrapbooking booth...quite fun and easy to spend money there).

Vicki and Amanda laughed at me having a conversation with her...Vicki says I have improved from my days of speechlessness when I am around famous people (i.e. G.W. Bailey at Amanda & Dave's wedding back in 1998...). I carried on a fairly intelligent conversation (I think)...at least words came out of my mouth...that is improvement right there.

After we left her booth we wandered around and purchased a bunch more items...I kept telling Amanda and Vicki that we just met Karen Burniston!! They continued to laugh at me throughout the morning.

After we exhausted our scrapping funds, we headed over to Freebirds for some burritos. Quite yummy. We had a good ole' time trying to decide what the foil sculptures near our table were...Amanda made a purse to display (while Vicki mocked it incessantly)...

Nice to spend time with the sistas...we don't get to spend much time together just us three...especially since Amanda has moved halfway across the state...not really, but it surely feels like it. She's about an hour and 15 minutes away from me if there is not terrible traffic.

Had a good evening on Saturday as well...Alicia and Daniel came over and, get this, she scrapbooked a page!! I can't tell you how long it has been since she scrapped...too long! She's made less pages than my boy. She did a page with pictures from some concerts she's been to and even made a pocket to put her ticket stubs in. I was so excited when she decided to scrap! And she was really proud of the page she made...she showed it off to Daniel when he got here. Super fun. (As an added bonus, she picked the movie we watched...Napoleon Dynamite! Don't tell my other sister-in-laws but she is my favorite right now!). All in all, Saturday was a super-wonderful day! :)
